Bio
Since 1998, Oil 10 has produced pure electronic tracks in which powerful, elegant, and analogical sounds mix-up. Gilles Rossire shows that research doesn't always mean icy hermetism and achieves a terrific fusion between ambient and techno. His approach can be explained by the diversity of his influences: LFO, Pan sonic, FSOL, Autechre, Dead Can Dance, essential first albums of Kraftwerk or Tangerine Dream, the 80s electro pop scene (OMD, Freur, Fad Gadget, Ultravox, Depeche Mode...) and recent electronic wave (Fisherspooner, IAMX, Vitalic, The Hacker, Ladytron and so on).
Since he has been a technician in the movie industry for many years, cinema and especially music for films also had a strong influence on him (Forbidden Planet, Edward Artemeyev, John Carpenter, Vangelis, John Williams, Hayao Miyazaki and many more).
After a rather dancefloor EP released at ARS, Gilles has created Oil 10 and joined the French label Noise Museum on which 2 CD albums -In/Out and Blocks- have been released. Then a powerful EP named Metastases came out, a vinyl on the German label Hymen/Ant-zen.
With Links -his 3rd CD album- released on the French/German label Vacuum in 2001, Gilles is making his musical style even more brilliant by achieving creative refinement and elegance.
After several remixes for other bands and live performances, Gilles has released Arena, a very dynamic CD album on Brume Records. The Oil 10 project moves towards a resolutely dance floor universe thanks to the hits Lost in Metropolis or Le Bar for the soundtrack of the movie Broceliande. The album received critical acclaim and glowing reviews worldwide and expanded Oil 10 s reach to a much wider audience.
Oil 10 has performed energetic gigs along with synchronized video accompanyment across Europe, from London to Bratislava with Sonar, Roger Rotor, Architect, Xabec, Mimetic, Panacea, Synascape, Job Karma, Imminent...
After three years of sound research, the soundtrack creation for the short movie Protocole 33 and the vinyl EP Scars in collaboration with Empusae on Divine Comedy Records, Oil 10 was back with Beyond on the label Funkwelten. Freer than ever Gilles offered his most expansive album, full of deep-space transmission voices and catchy hymns including the hit Grand Illusion.
After a new soundtrack for the film Lundi, 35 milligrammes, Oil 10 is back to celebrate a decade of music. The new album RetroFuture provides a complete revisited exploration of the most representative electro themes of the project since early years. An alternate remastered and remixed recording including rarities for the first time on CD and two new tracks.
Once again, cinematic ambient and dancefloor meet each other for a new orbital ride around Oil 10 music system !
